Introducing our Direct Support for Sunset Fest….BAKAR!! Born Abubakar Baker Shariff-Farr, emerged in the music scene with his genre-blending style that fuses elements of indie rock, hip-hop, and alternative R&B. His debut mixtape, Badkid, released in 2018, quickly garnered attention for its fresh sound and innovative approach. His breakthrough came with the release of his single “Hell N Back” in 2019, which became a viral hit and earned him widespread acclaim. The song charted internationally and solidified BAKAR as a rising star in the music industry. “Hell N Back” was featured on his 2019 EP Will You Be My Yellow?, which further expanded his fan base and introduced his music to a global audience. BAKAR’s debut studio album, Nobody’s Home, was released in 2022 to critical acclaim. The album featured a mix of introspective lyrics and genre-defying production, with standout tracks like “First Time” and “Free”. The album’s success positioned BAKAR as one of the most exciting and innovative artists in contemporary music. His latest album, Halo, released in September 2023, continues to push musical boundaries. The album explores themes of love, identity, and self-discovery, and includes tracks that blend his signature sound with new experimental elements. HOJEAN BACKGROUND:
Introducing our Opener for Sunset Fest...HOJEAN! Hojean is a self-taught musician, artist, and producer born and raised in New York/currently based in the outskirts of Atlanta. Throughout the last two years, Hojean has brought his artistry across the globe, selling out multiple headlining North American tours, a tour in Asia, and festival performances. Hojean’s debut EP, Swing, released at the end of 2022 – came directly off his debut festival performance on the Main Stage at Head in the Clouds in Los Angeles and headline tour which was entirely sold out. As a first-gen Asian/American, Hojean’s music and artistry serve as a platform to inspire other creatives and to prove that Asian artists in America can be domestic stars with a global reach.
